Just place all of the words for each group (e.g., short a) on the ends of popsicle sticks and stick them in a concealed jar.
 
One student picks out a stick, reads the cvc word, and then MAKES UP A SENTENCE for that word. 
 
The other students cover their words with a game marker (bread clip, bingo chip, etc.)
